Are you an engaging teacher looking to immerse yourself in a small NT community? Are you looking for a school that embraces Two-Way learning and regular On-Country trips? There is a primary teaching positions currently available in a community on the western side of the Tjorita/MacDonnell Ranges teaching Year 3 - 6.
Located on Luritja country, approximately 3.5 hours from Alice Springs, the school has approximately 35 students attending. The school encompasses a culturally responsive program, where first language is a focus, alongside numeracy and literacy. You will have the opportunity to work alongside Indigenous Teachers. Students are taught the non-sacred side of learning within the school environment, where men engage in activities such as crafting shields and spears, and women practice weaving and basket making. Additionally, there are On-Country overnight trips led by Indigenous rangers to explore topics like grass, water management, and trapping. Teachers bring these experiences back to the classroom, developing activities and experiences.
You will facilitate engaging educational experiences in an environment where your openness and sensitivity for other cultures will open you to learning from students, families and community. The majority of the community identify themselves as Luritja, with other language groups including Pintubi, Warlpiri and Arrernte.
There is a shop, aged care centre, health centre and workshop in community.
Responsibilities include,
- Planning, preparing and explicitly delivering quality and effective teaching and learning programs, which are consistent with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers and relevant curriculum policies, work programs and educational trends.
- Supporting students through interaction in a variety of settings and through the active development of supportive learning environments and effective behaviour management practices.
- Providing for the physical, social, cultural and emotional well-being and safety of students whilst at school.
- Regularly assessing students (diagnostic, formative and summative) for developmental, feedback and reporting purposes.
- Maintaining student records and samples of work and report on student performance to students, parents, the department and other stakeholders as required.
- Establishing and maintaining appropriate interpersonal relationships between the school, parents and community.
Position is full-time for 2025, with a possibility of extending. There is also a primary Transition to Year 2 position available.

- Wages between $92,215 - $131,349 (plus super)
- Annual remote allowances of $9,894, paid pro-rata fortnightly with salary. $11,836 with dependents.

What You Need to Succeed! Registered (or ability to) with TRBNT and a NT Working With Children check (ochre card) in addition to,
- Bachelor’s degree in education or equivalent.
- Ability to collaboratively plan, prepare and deliver teaching and learning programs to meet the diverse characteristics, needs and learning styles of students; which are consistent with relevant curriculum policies, work programs and education trends.
- Knowledge of and the ability to implement effective and inclusive teaching and learning processes, including the use of learning technology and assessment.
- Regularly assess students (diagnostic, formative and summative) for developmental, feedback and reporting purposes.
- Maintain student records and samples of work and report on student performance to students, parents, the department and other stakeholders as required.
- Ability to communicate and relate effectively with students, staff and families through appropriate interpersonal skills.
- Ability to plan and apply appropriate behaviour management strategies that contribute to establishing and maintaining a supportive learning environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with school staff, parents and members of the local school community in order to establish and develop productive partnerships, in an intercultural environment
- Commitment to maintain current and relevant professional learning and meet Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills.
