A specialist primary school located 20-minute drive from Darwin City, are seeking passionate and skilled teachers across a range of year levels from Preschool to Year 6. The school offers specialised and individualised programs for up to 135 students with special needs. Classroom teams consist of a teacher and up to two Special Education Support Officers, class sizes are capped at eight students. The school community work together to achieve the vision of being a communication accessible school striving to provide every child with a readiness to learn, a voice and a writing tool.
The school is a Comprehensive Literacy School and benefits from the expertise of three interstate consultants specialising in Literacy, Communication, and Sensory Processing. These experts visit two to three times annually to provide on-site professional learning, classroom support, and tailored mentoring. They also develop customised learning modules to support staff development. Comprehensive Literacy is the whole school instructional model and PODD is the communication system across the school.

These full-time roles offer flexible start dates — immediate or from Term 3, 2025 — and can be either short- or long-term placements. Teachers with special needs qualification, or a passion for special needs are welcome to apply. Partner roles may also be available in areas such as special education support, supporting learning in the garden, or administration.

- Salary between $92,215 - $131,349 (plus super)

What You Need to Succeed! Registered (or ability to) with TRBNT and a NT Working With Children check (ochre card) in addition to,
- Bachelor’s degree in education or equivalent.
- Ability to collaboratively plan, prepare and deliver teaching and learning programs to meet the diverse characteristics, needs and learning styles of students; which are consistent with relevant curriculum policies, work programs and education trends.
- Knowledge of and the ability to implement effective and inclusive teaching and learning processes, including the use of learning technology and assessment.
- Regularly assess students (diagnostic, formative and summative) for developmental, feedback and reporting purposes.
- Maintain student records and samples of work and report on student performance to students, parents, the department and other stakeholders as required.
- Ability to communicate and relate effectively with students, staff and families through appropriate interpersonal skills.
- Ability to plan and apply appropriate behaviour management strategies that contribute to establishing and maintaining a supportive learning environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with school staff, parents and members of the local school community in order to establish and develop productive partnerships, in an intercultural environment
- Commitment to maintain current and relevant professional learning and meet Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
