JOB SUMMARY
A client of ours is recruiting a Financial Controller based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, to take ownership of financial reporting, compliance, cashflow and systems accuracy for the local entity. This opportunity will suit an experienced finance professional who is comfortable in a fast paced environment, can work independently with senior leadership, and ensures that ledgers, statements and reports are accurate, timely and compliant.

Our client is a young and growing logistics and project cargo group with a strong focus on the African continent and a developing international footprint across multiple transportation modes.

THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
In order to be shortlisted for the vacancy, the successful candidate will have the following skills and competencies, but not limited to:

• A diploma in finance or accounting
• Minimum five years experience in a similar finance role
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and standards
• Understanding of tax regulations and compliance requirements
• Proven experience preparing, reviewing and analysing financial statements and reports
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
• Confident user of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• High attention to detail with strong organisational skills
• Ability to stay professional and focused in a fast paced environment
• Self motivated with the ability to work effectively as part of a team
• A positive mindset and a can do attitude
• Relevant experience, preferably gained in a logistics environment

JOB DESCRIPTION
The role responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

• Overseeing day to day accounting activities
• Ensuring that ledgers accurately reflect all money in and out of the company
• Managing cashflow to support operations and growth initiatives
• Ensuring accuracy in booking and financial systems including balance sheet reconciliations
• Assisting with forecasting and budgeting at company level
• Managing the relationship and cooperation with external financial service suppliers
• Ensuring company documents and HR files are compliant with national laws and requirements in cooperation with accountants
• Ensuring compliance with relevant financial regulations and tax obligations
• Managing and improving financial systems and processes
• Enhancing cost efficiency across financial activities
• Managing and coordinating with external tax consultants for monthly allocations
