JOB SUMMARY
Our client is recruiting a Polyurethane Coating Technician to apply protective coatings in line with strict safety and quality standards. This permanent role based in Woodstock, Cape Town requires strong surface preparation capability, spray application experience and a disciplined approach to compliance and reporting.

Our client is a specialist rope access and industrial services provider, delivering inspection, maintenance and coating solutions in work at height environments with a strong focus on safety and compliance.

THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
In order to be shortlisted for the vacancy, the successful candidate will have the following skills and competencies, but not limited to:

• Experience applying polyurethane or similar protective coatings
• Knowledge of surface preparation techniques including cleaning, grinding, sanding and blasting
• Ability to operate spray equipment and hand tools
• Understanding of safety practices including PPE and ventilation requirements
• Strong attention to detail and quality control
• Ability to measure and control coating thickness
• Ability to complete job documentation and daily reports
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Technical training or certification in coatings or industrial painting advantageous
• Safety certification advantageous

JOB DESCRIPTION
The role responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

• Prepare surfaces by cleaning, grinding, sanding, blasting or priming as required
• Mix and apply polyurethane coatings using spray, roller or brush methods
• Measure and control coating thickness to meet specifications
• Inspect surfaces before and after application to ensure quality and durability
• Follow manufacturer specifications and project requirements
• Maintain and clean application tools and equipment
• Identify and report surface defects or application issues
• Comply with all safety, health and environmental regulations
• Work collaboratively with supervisors, inspectors and team members
• Complete job documentation and daily reports as required
