Likemind works with people who share our approach to work and living …
We are about adding value, connecting the dots, and delivering a solution to take the pain away. We believe that when the right connections are made, amazing things can happen.
Age Concern Wellington Region (ACWR), with the support of Likemind, is seeking someone with a heart for community and a deep love for our Pasifika peoples to join the team as the Omai Fa’atasi and Events Coordinator.
This is a part-time role, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 9.30am – 2pm, and Thursday 9.30am – 3pm.
This role is all about strengthening connection — soalaupule, talanoa, alofa, tautua, vā fealoa’i — and supporting our elders to feel valued, uplifted, and embraced by community.
ACWR’s purpose is simple and meaningful: to help older people live well, stay connected, and feel safe and supported. The Omai Fa’atasi programme is a vital part of this kaupapa, creating spaces where our Pasifika seniors can gather, celebrate culture, share stories, and access the support they need.
About the role
As the part-time Omai Fa’atasi and Events Coordinator, you will lead and support activities that bring our Pacific elders together in ways that honour identity, culture, and belonging. We are looking for someone who will:
- Help deliver the Omai Fa’atasi (Come Together) programme across the Wellington region
- Plan and host community gatherings, cultural events, talanoa sessions and educational workshops
- Create welcoming spaces where our kaumātua and matuā feel respected, heard and uplifted
- Build strong, trust-based relationships with Pasifika churches, community groups, leaders and families
- Support ACWR's Communications and Events team in delivering the organisation's wider event schedule
- Support seniors to navigate services, stay connected, and access the information and help they need.
We are seeking someone with: - Genuine respect and love for Pasifika cultures, languages and values
- Confidence engaging with older people and their aiga/whānau
- The ability to uphold the vā — caring for relationships with humility and respect
- Experience planning events or community activities
- Strong communication and connection-building skills
- The heart of a servant leader — someone who leads through alofa, patience and understanding
- A full New Zealand driver's licence
If you have a passion for community, a heart for serving elders, and a desire to uplift Pasifika wellbeing, we would love to hear from you.
Please apply through Likemind, including your CV and a short cover letter about why this mahi resonates with you kiaora@likemind.nz
