Our Client
Our client operates a progressive family dairy in North East Tasmania, approximately 45 minutes from Launceston and close to primary and high schools. The farm milks around 650 cows through a modern rotary dairy and is supported by Halter, a calving barn and extensive modern infrastructure. The owners value teamwork, good communication and pride in caring for their animals and property.
The Role
Working closely with the Farm Owner and Farm Manager, you will help lead daily operations, maintain high standards of herd health and milk quality, and support the farm team. This is a practical leadership position, responsible for running the operation when the Manager is absent.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage herd health, animal welfare, calving and reproductive performance.
- Lead milking routines and maintain excellent milk quality and dairy hygiene.
- Coordinate feeding, pasture allocation, and cow housing care.
- Organise daily tasks, train staff and build a positive team environment.
- Maintain accurate herd records and use modern dairy technology.
- Operate machinery safely and help keep facilities well maintained.
About You You will bring practical dairy experience, sound stockmanship and the confidence to work independently. You will be reliable, communicate clearly, take pride in maintaining a clean home and workplace, and hold a current driver's licence. Experience with rotary dairies, Halter, herd-management software or artificial insemination will be highly regarded.
Location and Package The position offers around $80,000 per year plus superannuation and a very good home on the property. The roster averages 40 to 50 hours per week, includes early starts, weekends and public holidays, and provides four days off each fortnight. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in a modern dairy business while enjoying the lifestyle of North East Tasmania.
