Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy local authority in South Yorkshire, are looking for an experienced Internal Auditor and Business Improvement to join their team and play a crucial role within their internal audit operations. 

Position: Internal Auditor and Business Improvement
Rate: Negotiable (Umbrella, Inside IR35) 
Contract Duration: Temporary (Aug 2026) Possible Extension  
Working Arrangement: Hybrid

Job Purpose: 

• To support the Head of Internal Audit in a number of business improvement areas which need to be designed and implemented in compliance with the Global Internal Audit Standards UK Public Sector.

Job Duties: 

• Deliver a risk-based internal audit plan tailored to local council requirements in accordance with Public Sector Internal Audit Standards.
• Lead or assist in investigations into allegations of fraud, corruption, or procedural irregularities.
• Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal control systems to mitigate risk exposure and safeguard council assets.

Job Requirements:

• Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
• A background of Internal Audit within the public sector (ideally in a Local Government setting) and knowledge of the GIAS or previous PSIAS is essential. 
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
