Reporting to the General Manager, Funds Services, the Head of Onboarding, New Business leads the dedicated Funds Services Onboarding team within Corporate Trustee Services (CTS). You will guide domestic and international asset managers through the establishment of retail and wholesale funds in Australia, overseeing complex multi‑jurisdictional transactions and ensuring smooth, timely, and compliant onboarding.
This role requires deep industry knowledge, strong stakeholder engagement, and the ability to manage end‑to‑end fund establishment processes. Every day, you'll contribute to the successful launch of new fund vehicles, supporting the growth of our asset manager clients and the continued success of Equity Trustees.
You'll join a high‑performing, collaborative team with the opportunity to influence process improvement, strengthen market relationships, and drive strategic outcomes across the fund services lifecycle.
About the Role
- Lead and manage the negotiation of scheme/trust legal and contractual documentation.
- Manage key internal and external stakeholders across the onboarding process, including lawyers, investment managers, service providers and clients.
- Oversee consistent fund establishment processes across all new retail and wholesale funds.
- Assist governance and accounting teams with the setup of ongoing compliance obligations.
- Manage regulatory setup activities including tax registrations, ASIC documentation, TFN and ABN applications, and internal fee setup.
- Drive project timelines, maintain onboarding step plans, and ensure timely delivery.
- Partner with Relationship Managers to ensure smooth transition once funds go live.
- Lead, develop, and support the Funds Services Onboarding team to foster a high‑performance culture.
- Build strong relationships with service providers, intermediaries, and internal teams.
- Support business development through participation in initial client meetings.
- Prepare and present board papers and DDC papers for fund approval processes.
- Maintain currency of relevant legislation and regulatory changes.
What You Need - Working knowledge of the funds management industry, particularly financial assets; exposure to other asset classes is desirable.
- At least 10 years' financial services experience, including 5 years in a similar role.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities in complex and highly regulated environments.
- Strong stakeholder management capability with excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Experience reviewing and negotiating fund documentation and legal contracts for retail and wholesale products.
- Strong organisational and time‑management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Client‑focused mindset and the ability to work proactively and flexibly in a fast‑paced environment.
- A strong desire to understand fund structures, business models, risks and operational drivers.
- Continuous improvement mindset and the ability to lead process enhancement.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Salesforce highly regarded.
- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics or Law (mandatory).
