We are currently seeking a knowledgeable Ruminant Nutritionist to join our team and focus on Dairy production. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing innovative and effective ruminant nutrition programs that enhance animal health, welfare, and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
As a valued member of our dynamic and engaged Nutrition team, you will collaborate closely with the sales team and producers to provide comprehensive nutritional and technical support, ultimately optimizing dairy production and profitability. Your responsibilities will include:
- Develop tailored ruminant feed programs, incorporating the latest research and nutritional principles to enhance milk production, growth, reproduction, and overall health.
- Promote and advise on new technologies that improve productivity and profitability for our customers.
- Provide ongoing nutritional training to the Ontario sales team and act as a key resource for their needs.
- Stay up to date with the latest research and advancements in ruminant nutrition, applying these findings to continuously improve our nutrition programs.
- Conduct field experiments to evaluate the efficacy of feeding programs on animal performance and health.
- Stay current on industry trends, regulations, and guidelines related to ruminant nutrition.
Qualifications: We are seeking a highly motivated individual with the following qualifications:
- A PhD or master’s degree in animal science, Ruminant Nutrition, or a closely related field.
- Practical industry experience is preferred, but not mandatory.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills are essential for success in this role.
- A strong understanding of ruminant physiology, metabolism, and nutrient requirements.
- Experience with ruminant ration formulation software, such as AMTS, NDS, or equivalent, would be an asset, though training will be provided.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel to various farm locations as required.
