Te Whare Marama Housing Navigator
Help create warmer, healthier homes for whānau                                                                                                                                     
Turuki Health Care is a kaupapa Māori organisation delivering integrated health, wellbeing and social services across Tāmaki Makaurau. Our mission is to provide high quality, accessible and affordable healthcare to whānau, with a strong focus on equity and culturally responsive care.
  
We are looking for a passionate and community focused Housing Navigators (x2) to join our housing support team based in Manukau. Fulltime, Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.00pm.
  
In this role you will work alongside whānau across South Auckland to help ensure their homes are warm, dry and healthy, while supporting them to access the services and resources they need to maintain stable housing and improve wellbeing outcomes.
  
Te whiwhinga mahi – The opportunity
  
This is an opportunity to work directly with whānau in the community and support them to live in healthier homes.
  
Your mahi will include:

• Visiting whānau in their homes across the Counties Manukau area
• Completing housing and wellbeing assessments
• Supporting whānau to maintain warm, dry and healthy homes
• Helping whānau sustain their tenancy and resolve housing challenges
• Providing practical education on healthy homes and housing wellbeing
• Connecting whānau to health, housing and social support services
• Advocating for whānau with landlords, housing providers and other agencies
• Coordinating practical supports such as heaters, bedding, curtains and minor home improvements
• Maintaining case notes, programme data and reporting requirements
• Building strong relationships with community providers to support referral pathways

You are passionate about working with communities and supporting whānau to achieve positive wellbeing outcomes. You enjoy building relationships and working alongside people to find practical solutions.
  
Ideally you will bring:

• Experience in community health, housing, education, social services or case management
• Good communication and relationship building skills
• Ability to engage effectively with whānau and community partners
• Good organisational and computer skills, with the ability to learn new systems
• Ability to manage a caseload and prioritise your workload
• Professional presentation and a strong work ethic
• Understanding of kaupapa Māori and whānau centred approaches (desirable)
• Commitment to improving Māori and Pacific health and wellbeing outcomes
• Full New Zealand Driver’s Licence
• Eligibility to work in New Zealand
• Clean criminal record

  
The ability to speak Te Reo Māori or a Pacific language is highly advantageous.
