Whānau Ora Team Leader
Turuki Health Care is a kaupapa Māori organisation delivering integrated health, wellbeing and social services across the Tāmaki Makaurau region. We provide quality, accessible, and affordable healthcare and support to whānau.
Te Whiwhinga Mahi – The Opportunity
We are seeking a Team Leader who brings proven experience in Whānau Ora or Social services and who can lead with heart, clarity and purpose.
In this role, you will set and uphold a high standard of practice, helping to mould and develop a large team while maintaining a strong focus on whānau wellbeing and transformation.
Your leadership will be key to building capability within the team and ensuring that new kaimahi are well supported and oriented quickly and effectively into their roles — all within a kaupapa Māori framework that values mana, wairua, and collective strength.
This is a 12-month fixed term, full-time position based in Manukau, Auckland.
Ngā Pūkenga me Ngā Wheako – Skills and Experience
We are looking for someone who can bring both leadership and deep understanding of community practice, ideally with:
- Strong experience in Whānau Ora, social work, or related community support roles
- A deep understanding of Te Ao Māori, Kaupapa Māori principles, and whānau-centred practice
- Confidence in building and maintaining trusted relationships with whānau and across systems
- Ability to coach, develop and lead a growing team while embedding best practice
- Experience navigating complex systems and advocating effectively for whānau
- Excellent interpersonal, planning and problem-solving skills
- A relevant qualification in Social Work, Health, Youth Work, or Community Services, highly desirable
- A full NZ Driver Licence
