Our client is seeking a Microbiology Lab Technician to join their team!
This is an on-site/full-time/direct hire position
Salary range depending on experience: $47k-$55k
Mission: The mission of the Lab Technician is to support our Lab Director & Lab Analysts in the areas of sample preparation, equipment calibration and preparation, SOP-compliant running of samples, and other various tasks, ensuring the lab operates as efficiently and effectively as possible.
Competencies
- Able to work together on a high-volume production laboratory team specializing in fast turnaround times
- 2 years of college in the natural/physical sciences, Micro-Bio, Chemistry, or an Associate degree with at least one year of experience with organic analyses.
- Instrument experience required - Analytical balances, pipettes, and centrifuges. Experience with HPLC, LC/MS, GC/MS, and ICP/MS preferred
- Familiar with Agilent, Thermo, or Shimadzu Instruments
- Close attention to detail with the ability to multitask, be independent/self-sufficient, and participate in a team environment
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a high-pressure environment while maintaining the highest level of quality
- Ability to follow instructions and SOPs
- Ability to work on multiple tasks throughout the day
Outcomes Work with the Lab Director and the team in all production processes of a high-volume lab, including:
- Hands-on with all aspects of laboratory test work, including receiving of samples, homogenization, extractions, weighing, dilutions, etc., using various methods in accordance with ISO standard operating procedures
- Analyze samples consisting of a variety of matrices using traditional laboratory technologies, including, but not limited to, qPCR, LC/MS, HPLC, GC/MS, and ICP/MS
- Perform various microbiological tests such as total plate count, yeast and mold count, E. coli, Salmonella, etc.
- Ensure quality specifications for process adherence and workmanship
- Data entry, sample intake, and sample management using the LIMS and other tools as required.
- Ensuring customer results are reported quickly and accurately, meeting the laboratory performance metrics.
- Maintaining inventory of samples, laboratory supplies, sample storage and disposal, cleaning, and other supporting lab processes.
- Maintaining, cleaning, calibrating, and troubleshooting laboratory instrumentation.
- Participate in laboratory investigations and resolution
- Complete projects assigned by lab management within established deadlines.
