About the Role
We are seeking a driven and design-savvy Business Development Manager to join a leading name in the architectural and decorative lighting industry. Based in London, this role is perfect for someone who thrives in the intersection of design, architecture, and commercial growth.
You’ll be responsible for identifying and converting new business opportunities, cultivating relationships with top-tier clients, and championing a portfolio of innovative lighting solutions. From boutique interiors to landmark developments, your work will help illuminate some of the most exciting spaces in the built environment.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Develop and convert new business opportunities across sectors including interior design, architecture, property development, landscape architecture, retail, and end-user clients.
• Initiate outreach through a mix of cold calling, LinkedIn, networking, and personalised email campaigns to grow the client base.
• Identify and attend industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities — particularly those frequented by designers and architects (some outside normal office hours).
• Organise and host branded events such as breakfast briefings and showroom meetups to engage and educate potential clients.
• Manage and maintain the CRM system (Pipedrive), ensuring all activity, pipeline data, and lead tracking are accurate and up to date.
• Collaborate with the marketing team to contribute to campaigns, e-shots, brochures, press releases, and other promotional content.
• Build and sustain strong, professional client relationships, providing support from first contact through to project completion.
• Act as a knowledgeable and articulate ambassador for the brand, clearly communicating the company’s design ethos, product benefits, and unique capabilities.
• Deliver tailored presentations to clients, both independently and alongside the design team.
• Report on sales performance, pipeline status, forecasts, and tender activity in regular management meetings.
• Work closely with the internal team and company Founder to align sales efforts with broader business goals.
• Proactively revisit lapsed or underutilised client accounts to identify missed or repeat business opportunities.
• Ideally, contribute to writing and managing bid and tender documentation (desirable but not essential).

• A natural networker and confident communicator, especially at design and industry events.
• Strong commercial acumen with a strategic view of the market and sales process.
• Strong presentation skills — both visual and verbal.
• Excellent written communication, particularly when preparing reports, proposals, and client correspondence.
• Familiarity with CRM tools (Pipedrive preferred).
• Prior experience in lighting, interiors, or high-end product sectors is a major advantage.
