Lighting Product Design Engineer (Junior to Mid-Level)
Location: North London
Architectural Lighting manufacturer and design house is seeking a talented and motivated Product Design Engineer to join our project management and product development team. You'll have the opportunity to contribute to some of the most iconic architectural lighting projects across the globe.
 
Role Overview
You will play a key role in the design, development, and delivery of high-end LED lighting systems, supporting both bespoke and standard product lines. This is a hands-on position suited to a junior to mid-level engineer with a passion for precision, aesthetics, and problem-solving in real-world applications.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to the design and development of architectural LED lighting products
• Assist with prototyping, testing, and transitioning products into production
• Work closely with internal teams, suppliers, subcontractors, and specifiers
• Provide on-site support to resolve installation and technical challenges
• Ensure designs meet quality, commercial, and aesthetic goals
• Help implement sustainable and efficient production practices

Required Experience & Skills

• Background in either:
• LED architectural lighting design, production, and installation, or
• Professional electronic equipment development and testing
• Strong 3D CAD skills – SolidWorks experience required
• Organised, detail-oriented, and methodical approach to design
• Understanding of sustainable manufacturing practices
• Commercial awareness and a design-led mindset
• Effective communicator across disciplines and teams
• Familiarity with batch production (low to medium volume)
• Knowledge of mechanical manufacturing processes (plastics, metals, finishing, rapid prototyping)
• Basic understanding of electronics and software relevant to LED systems
• On-site experience supporting contractors or installers is beneficial

Desirable

• Interest in design automation and the use of AI in engineering
• Willingness to learn and grow within the role – training provided where needed
