About the role
Our Sydney office is seeking an associate to join our Property, Planning & Development Group working closely with Partners Vanya Lozzi and Elly Ashley and a team of lawyers and paralegals . You will possess 2-4 years PAE in commercial and residential property work with a desire to learn and grow.
We can offer you exposure to a number of major property developers, private entities, owners corporations and government entities, stimulating work and a fast paced environment.
You will be part of a small, highly skilled team focused on development, titling and transactional work.
As a member of the team you will:
- advise developers on all aspects of the development lifecycle;
- run complicated transactions using options, development agreements and joint venture agreements;
- prepare master contracts for the sale and purchase of land off the plan;
- draft bespoke titling and governance documentation;
- provide advice to owners corporations and community associations;
- provide assistance to Holding Redlich’s off the plan sales team; and
- give complicated FIRB advice.
About youTo undertake this role, you should have the following:
- knowledge on the law relating to NSW conveyancing and transactional work. This includes a basic working knowledge of commonly used off the plan contract special conditions, stamp duty, GST and the vendor disclosure obligations under the Conveyancing Act and Regulations;
- a good working knowledge of different agreement structures including put and call option agreements, nomination agreements and development agreements;
- excellent drafting skills and the ability to prepare special conditions and simple deeds;
- well-honed negotiating skills;
- excellent supervisory skills;
- proficiency in using PEXA; and
- a working knowledge of different title structures including strata schemes, stratum scheme and community title arrangement.
It is also desirable (but not essential) for you to have a working knowledge of leasing and mortgage documentation. You will need to have the following qualities:
- a high attention to detail and desire to achieve a high level of accuracy;
- a disciplined and methodical approach to your work;
- be an effective and dependable team member;
- work efficiently and within given timeframes;
- be comfortable with a high volume workload; and
- be eager to embrace new and emerging technology.
