About the Opportunity
Advance Thinking is seeking a motivated and technically minded AI Automation & Digital Solutions Specialist to support the development, implementation and improvement of AI-powered business solutions, digital platforms and workflow automation initiatives.
This role combines artificial intelligence, business process automation, web development and digital innovation, providing an opportunity to work across projects that help organisations improve efficiency, reduce manual processes and adopt emerging technologies.
Working alongside experienced technology professionals and business stakeholders, you'll contribute to the design and development of practical digital solutions, including AI-powered agents, automated workflows, websites and integrated business systems.
The position would suit an emerging technology professional with hands-on experience building AI-assisted applications, experimenting with automation tools and developing digital solutions for real-world business needs.
We're particularly interested in someone who demonstrates initiative, problem-solving ability, technical curiosity and a willingness to learn, rather than someone who simply has years of industry experience.
The Role
As an AI Automation & Digital Solutions Specialist, you'll contribute to projects involving AI-powered applications, business process automation, web development and digital transformation.
You'll work across both technical and business-facing activities, helping identify opportunities where technology can improve existing processes and supporting the development of solutions from initial concept through to testing and implementation.
The role requires someone comfortable exploring new technologies, working with AI development tools, troubleshooting problems and collaborating with others to deliver practical outcomes.
You'll also help test, refine and document solutions to ensure they are reliable, user-friendly and aligned with business requirements.
AI Development & Automation
A key focus of the role will be supporting the development of AI-powered solutions and automated business workflows.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist in designing and developing AI-powered agents and business automation solutions.
- Use AI development tools, including Claude and similar platforms, to support application development and workflow improvement.
- Identify repetitive business processes that could benefit from automation.
- Build and test automated workflows connecting different applications and services.
- Support the integration of AI capabilities into existing business systems.
- Assist with testing AI-generated outputs, identifying errors and improving system reliability.
- Explore opportunities to improve business efficiency through emerging AI technologies.
- Document automation workflows, testing outcomes and system improvements.
- Work with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into practical solutions.
Application Development & System Integration You'll support the development and improvement of digital applications that connect business processes, information and technology.
This includes:
- Contribute to the development of web-based applications and internal business tools.
- Assist with integrating third-party platforms, APIs and business applications.
- Support data flow and information exchange between connected systems.
- Test application functionality and troubleshoot integration issues.
- Help improve the usability, performance and reliability of digital platforms.
- Work with development tools and AI-assisted coding environments.
- Assist in identifying and resolving technical issues during development and testing.
- Maintain clear documentation of features, requirements and system changes.
Website Development & Digital Solutions You'll also contribute to digital projects involving website design, development and online business solutions.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist in designing, developing and maintaining business websites.
- Support improvements to website functionality, layout and user experience.
- Develop digital solutions aligned with client and business requirements.
- Work with website platforms, design tools and modern development technologies.
- Assist with troubleshooting website issues and implementing improvements.
- Collaborate with stakeholders on digital content, branding and website requirements.
- Ensure digital solutions are practical, accessible and easy to use.
Testing, Quality & Continuous Improvement You'll play an important role in making sure digital solutions work as intended before they are introduced into business workflows.
This includes:
- Test new features, automated processes and system integrations.
- Identify technical issues, unexpected behaviour and opportunities for improvement.
- Assist in validating AI-generated results and automated decisions.
- Document testing outcomes and communicate issues clearly.
- Support controlled demonstrations and user feedback sessions.
- Help refine applications based on feedback and business requirements.
- Follow appropriate data privacy, security and responsible AI practices.
- Recognise when automated processes require human review or approval.
Collaboration & Business Engagement The role involves working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand problems and develop effective solutions.
You'll be expected to:
- Communicate project progress and technical concepts clearly.
- Participate in discussions about business requirements and improvement opportunities.
- Demonstrate new digital tools and explain how they work.
- Gather feedback from users and stakeholders.

Ideally, you'll bring:
- Hands-on experience using AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT or AI-assisted development environments.
- Experience developing or experimenting with AI-powered agents and automation workflows.
- Understanding of how technology can improve business processes.
- Experience with website design, website development or digital platforms.
- Familiarity with connecting applications, APIs or third-party systems.
- Ability to test applications, identify problems and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to learn new tools and technologies independently.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to explain technical work to non-technical stakeholders.
- Interest in responsible AI development, data privacy and system reliability.
- Based in Melbourne, Victoria, or able to work with Melbourne-based teams.
A formal degree or extensive commercial development experience is not essential. We value demonstrated ability, hands-on projects, initiative and willingness to develop new skills.
Highly Regarded Experience The following would be advantageous, but is not essential:
- Experience developing an AI-powered application or autonomous agent.
- Experience integrating AI systems with recruitment, CRM or business management platforms.
- Familiarity with tools such as Claude Code, Git, JavaScript, TypeScript or modern web development frameworks.
- Experience working with APIs, databases or automated data processing.
- Exposure to AI-assisted software development and testing.
- Experience creating websites or digital solutions for clients.
- Experience contributing to business automation or digital transformation projects.
- A portfolio demonstrating practical technology or digital development work.
