Principal Computer Vision Engineer – Sydney, Hybrid
 
I’m working with a local, top-calibre engineering organisation on a search for a Principal Computer Vision Engineer to take a senior role in a high-impact, R&D-driven team.
 
This is a unique opportunity to shape the architecture, performance, and capabilities of new, proprietary systems, from day one. The work is deeply technical, production-critical, and directly tied to 3D Imagery, reconstruction, visualisation and more.
 
Principal Computer Vision Engineer Responsibilities

• Lead the development of advanced 3D content generation software, including mesh reconstruction and textured mesh rendering
• Work on large-scale processing pipelines, drive technical decisions as the Principal within the team.
• Contribute to replacing legacy third-party systems with robust, performant in-house solutions
• Influence tooling, infrastructure, and file format handling for complex 3D data types

Principal Computer Vision Engineer Requirements

• Strong proficiency in C++ development, with exposure to OpenGL, OpenCV or similar.
• Solid background in 3D mesh processing, visualization, and image processing
• Background working with textured mesh, multi-view stereo, or 3D visualization pipelines
• Experience with 2D-to-3D workflows
• Ability to design performant systems for manipulating and rendering large-scale datasets
• Comfortable working in a Linux development environment
