About Hong Kong China Rugby:
Hong Kong China Rugby (HKCR) is seeking an outstanding executive leader to serve as its next Chief Executive Officer, leading one of Asia's most established and internationally recognised rugby organisations.
Hong Kong China Rugby is the governing body for rugby in Hong Kong and a full member of World Rugby. With approximately 134 people and annual revenues exceeding HK$255 million, HKCR leads representative and domestic rugby, commercial and community programmes, and major international events including the iconic Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens.
It is an exciting time to lead HKCR, with the men's team preparing for the Rugby World Cup 2027, alongside continued growth of the domestic game and community programmes.
The Opportunity:
Reporting to the Chairman and Board, the CEO will provide strategic and operational leadership across HKCR and play a central role in shaping the future of rugby in Hong Kong. This is a high-profile leadership opportunity to build on HKCR's strong foundations and guide the organisation through its next phase of growth and evolution. The CEO will oversee one of Asia's most recognised sporting organisations and events, while positioning Hong Kong rugby for continued success domestically, regionally and internationally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead HKCR's vision, strategy and organisational priorities.
- Drive financial sustainability, commercial growth and profitability.
- Lead the continued evolution and growth of the Hong Kong Sevens, including its transition to an evolving business and governance model.
- Develop and grow sponsorship, partnership and other commercial opportunities.
- Lead and inspire a diverse, high-performing organisation.
- Build influential relationships across government, World Rugby, Asia Rugby, sponsors, partners, clubs and the wider rugby community.
- Grow participation and strengthen pathways from grassroots through to elite and international rugby.
About You: We are looking for a commercially minded, and highly experienced executive who brings:
- Significant executive leadership in a complex, stakeholder-rich environment.
- Experience leading large-scale international sporting, entertainment or major events.
- Strong commercial acumen, including strategy, budgets, growth and profitability.
- A track record of developing and executing strategy.
- Outstanding people leadership and stakeholder management capability.
- Strong communication, influencing and relationship-building skills.
- A pragmatic, action-oriented leadership style.
Experience in professional sport, rugby, high-performance/community sport, sponsorship or sports marketing would be advantageous. Senior executive proficiency in English is required, with Cantonese and/or Mandarin advantageous.
