This is one of the most influential leadership roles in cricket in New Zealand. As CEO, you will sit at the centre of the game - leading strategy, shaping player outcomes, and navigating complex stakeholder environments across domestic and international cricket.
About the NZCPA
The New Zealand Cricket Players' Association (NZCPA) represents the collective interests of over 800 current and past international and domestic cricketers across the men's and women's game - ensuring their rights, wellbeing, and long-term futures are protected and advanced.
The NZCPA vision is to be the professional cricketers' club for life, supporting players to thrive during and after their professional careers. Its values reflect a deeply authentic commitment to its people, while recognising the critical role players play in shaping the future of the game.
Since 2001, NZCPA has been at the forefront of player advocacy, driving the advancement of the professional cricket environment and championing both on-field and off-field development. Three words underpin everything they do:
- Players - representing members in a way that reflects their importance to the game
- Better - leaving the game stronger for future generations
- Together - harnessing collective strength to drive meaningful outcomes
The opportunity: As CEO, you will lead NZCPA's strategy, operations, and stakeholder engagement, ensuring the organisation continues to deliver meaningful outcomes for its members. This is a purpose-led leadership role requiring both conviction and care, balancing advocacy with pragmatism in a complex, high-profile environment.
You will be responsible for:
- Representing players in collective bargaining and employment negotiations.
- Acting as the primary advocate for player welfare, rights and conditions.
- Leading the strategic direction and long-term vision of the NZCPA.
- Building strong relationships across NZ Cricket, Major Associations and global bodies.
- Leading a high-performing team and ensuring operational excellence.
- Overseeing financial performance, investments and governance structures.
- Acting as a visible and credible spokesperson for players and the organisation.
What we're looking for: This role requires a unique blend of commercial acumen, stakeholder leadership and advocacy capability. You may come from sport, but equally from adjacent sectors such as law, education, government, or complex membership-based organisations.
We are particularly interested in candidates who demonstrate:
- Values-led, service-driven, and deeply committed to a players' first approach.
- High emotional intelligence and the ability to build trust with elite athletes.
- Proven executive leadership experience in complex, stakeholder-rich environments.
- Commercial and financial acumen with experience managing investments.
- Confidence operating in media and public-facing environments.
- Sound judgement navigating legal, governance and regulatory frameworks.
- Demonstrate integrity, courage and authenticity in leadership.
