ABOUT NORTHERN REGION FOOTBALL:
Northern Region Football (NRF) is the largest of six District Federations affiliated to New Zealand Football. Football is the largest participation sport and working closely with their 73 member Clubs, NRF provide competitions and opportunities to over 41,000 registered players and thousands of coaches, referees, administrators and volunteers, plus running 1,100 games every weekend in season.
As New Zealand's largest regional sports organisation, Northern Region Football exists to support clubs to thrive, deliver the game across Northland and Auckland, and better meet the needs of those who are currently missing out on football and futsal.
ROLE SUMMARY:
We are seeking a strategic and experienced leader to join The Northern Region Football SLT as Head of Competitions & Events. This pivotal role holds end-to-end accountability for the design, governance, and delivery of football and futsal competitions, events, festivals, and the match official system across the region.
You will lead long-term competition planning, ensure regulatory alignment with New Zealand Football, oversee disciplinary and integrity frameworks, and provide strategic stewardship of referee development and appointment systems. As the SLT lead for health, safety, and wellbeing across all competitions and match official environments, you will ensure high-quality, safe, and sustainable delivery models that enhance participant experience and support the long-term growth of the game.
This is a senior systems leadership role requiring strong strategic capability, stakeholder management expertise, and proven experience leading complex operational environments within sport or comparable sectors.

You are a strategic systems thinker who can lead people, manage risk, and uphold strong governance and integrity standards while enhancing participant experience.
