NT Broadacre and Northern Hedging and Contracting Pty Ltd are well-established agricultural contracting businesses operating across the Northern Territory and the Kimberley region of northern Western Australia.
Operations are supported from Katherine, working in fast-moving environments where conditions change quickly, pressure is constant and results matter.
We are recruiting for two key roles within the business. These positions are demanding and not suited to everyone, but for the right people they offer responsibility, challenge and long-term opportunity.
Position 1: Diesel Mechanics / Diesel Fitters
We are seeking capable diesel mechanics and diesel fitters who are trade qualified or have extensive mechanical experience to maintain a large and varied fleet and minimise downtime across contracting operations.
The Role
You will be responsible for maintaining machinery to a high operational standard across both workshop and field service environments.
Key responsibilities include:
- Pre-season servicing and repairs
- Field service and breakdown work
- Workshop maintenance
- Parts, consumables and inventory management
- Supporting operators to follow maintenance procedures
- Maintaining clean, organised vehicles and workspaces
- Proactively identifying and resolving mechanical issues
You will be expected to work autonomously when required and contribute positively within a team environment.
What We Are Looking For - Trade qualified or those with extensive mechanical experience
- Willingness to work across a broad range of machinery
- Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience in workshop and field service environments
Position 2: Senior Operations Leader- Agricultural Contracting We are also seeking a senior, hands-on operations leader to manage people, machinery and pressure in real time.
This is a demanding role. It is hot, physically and mentally challenging, and will test your decision-making daily. This is not a desk job, but it is also not just a hands-on role. You must be comfortable leading crews in the paddock and completing the paperwork that keeps operations running properly.
The Role You will be responsible for keeping daily operations on track by managing people, machinery and jobs in real time. A large part of this role is people management and problem solving.
What the Job Involves - Running day-to-day agricultural contracting operations
- Working hands-on alongside crews when required
- Leading, motivating and supporting people on the ground
- Setting clear direction, standards and accountability
- Managing different personalities and keeping teams aligned
- Clear, simple and consistent communication
- Coordinating labour, machinery and logistics to meet tight timeframes
- Managing safety, fatigue and compliance
- Completing operational paperwork, job records and reporting
- Solving problems quickly and making sound decisions under pressure
- Acting as the link between management, clients and crews
- Setting the standard through your own attitude and work ethic
What We Are Looking For - Strong experience in agricultural contracting or similar operations

- Excellent communication and people management skills
- Highly organised and able to stay on top of paperwork
- Strong understanding of agriculture and field operations

- Reliable, accountable and willing to work long hours when required
