A large-scale, family-run farming business located near Narrabri is currently seeking a Dryland Cropping Overseer to join their team. This is a hands-on leadership position, responsible for managing day-to-day dryland cropping operations and working closely with the farm owner to coordinate activities and seasonal priorities.
The successful candidate will assist in supervising 2–3 farm hands and help coordinate contractors throughout the year. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to step into a leadership role or continue progressing their management career within a forward-thinking agricultural enterprise.
The business is a third-generation operation currently entering an exciting phase of growth. Their enterprise spans both dryland and irrigated cropping, rotating between winter and summer crops. They operate a modern fleet of machinery and are committed to sustainable and innovative farming practices. Key Responsibilities:
Planting of row crops (cotton and sorghum)
Broadacre planting (winter cereals and pulses)
Spraying using self-propelled, tow-behind, and Swarm Farm robotic equipment
General tractor operation (ploughing, loader work, bale collection)
Excavator operation
Header and chaser bin operation
Cotton stripper operation
Welding, fabrication, and general workshop duties
Routine machinery servicing and basic mechanical repairs
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Previous experience in broadacre cropping
Practical skills and a strong work ethic
The ability to work independently and within a team
Leadership experience (preferred but not essential – applicants seeking their first step into a management role are encouraged to apply)
A manual driver’s licence (required)
