Are you a storyteller with a strategic mind and a passion for human rights? The Asylum Seekers Centre (ASC) is looking for a Grants Writer & Coordinator to join our Philanthropy and Partnerships team.
As an independent not-for-profit, our work is fueled by philanthropic grants and the generosity of our community. This role is the engine room of that support connecting our vital programs with the funding they need to thrive.
About the role
- Position Type: Permanent, Part-time (22.8 hours / 3 days per week).
- Location: Primarily based in vibrant Newtown, with the flexibility of occasional remote work.
- Purpose: To research, write, and manage high-quality grant proposals and reports that advocate for the rights and dignity of people seeking asylum.
- Pay: SCHCADS Award Level 4 - $48.47 per hour equivalent to a full time base of $95,700 pro rata.
What You’ll Be Doing Your days will be a mix of deep-dive research, creative writing, and meticulous project coordination:
- Crafting the Case for Support: You will write, edit, and submit high-quality grant proposals and reports, working closely with the Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships.
- Hunting for Opportunities: You’ll conduct research to identify new funding prospects and build compelling cases for support.
- Collaboration & Storytelling: You’ll work across ASC teams to gather the data, budgets, and client case studies that bring our impact to life.
- Keeping Us on Track: You will manage the ASC grant calendar, ensuring every deadline is met and our funder records are flawlessly maintained in CiviCRM.
- Building Relationships: You will foster strong, trust-based relations with current and future funders, providing professional and people-centered support.
About You You are more than just a great writer; you are a collaborative project manager who loves seeing a plan come together.
The Essentials: - The Track Record: At least 3 years of experience in grant fundraising, writing, and project management.
- The NFP Lens: Contemporary experience working within the not-for-profit or for-purpose sector.
- The Communicator: You can translate complex data into informative internal and external communications.
- The Values: You are committed to upholding human rights and demonstrate compassion, connection, and innovation in your work.
- The Tech lens: Familiarity with fundraising platforms and grant administration databases.
The Desirable: - Tertiary education in a relevant field.
- Lived experience as a refugee or a person seeking asylum.
