Position: Street Works Officer
Location: Brent
Duration: 3 Months 
Rate: £26.36 per hour

Purpose of the Role: 

The Street Works Officer will support the planning, control and coordination of street works under the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 and Traffic Management Act 2004. They will assist in delivering a planned and effective approach to reduce traffic congestion and support statutory responsibilities under the National Permit Scheme.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and coordinate street works in line with NRSWA 1991, TMA 2004, and the National Permit Scheme
• Assess, grant or refuse permits and issue Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) as required
• Issue Section 74 overrun warnings within statutory timescales
• Maintain accurate records and updates on the highways works database
• Attend meetings with Statutory Undertakers, members, MPs, and other stakeholders
• Review and assess traffic management plans submitted by utility and traffic management companies
• Conduct site inspections and meetings to ensure compliance with legislation
• Carry out other duties as required, in line with the role’s responsibilities

• NRSWA Accredited to Supervisor Level
• LANTRA 12D Accredited (Traffic Management Design)
• Sound understanding of highways legislation and street works regulations
• Up-to-date knowledge of highway maintenance techniques
• Familiarity with the National Permit Scheme and street works coordination
• Understanding of highway operations and traffic management practice
• Experience using performance indicators in service delivery
• Previous work as a Street Works Inspector or in a similar enforcement/coordination role
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
• High level of computer literacy and familiarity with highways databases
• Commitment to customer service and equal opportunities
• Full clean UK driving licence
