Head of Engineering

Our client, a fast-growing SaaS platform in theCommercial Real Estate (CRE) space, is seeking a Head of Engineering to lead their technical team and drive innovation.

Location: Miami, FL (Miami Lakes)

Work Type: Hybrid / Onsite 3 days per week

The ideal candidate will combine strong technical capabilities with leadership skills, balancing hands-on backend development with team mentorship and strategic guidance. This role will oversee the engineering roadmap, align with business goals, and ensure scalable, secure tech infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a small, fast-paced engineering team
• Write production code and mentor engineers across the stack
• Set technical direction and ensure high-quality delivery
• Manage infrastructure on AWS and promote secure development practices
• Collaborate with leadership and cross-functional stakeholders
• Balance hands-on coding with architecture oversight and team growth

• Proven experience leading engineering teams in startups or fast-paced environments
• Strong backend development skills (Laravel/PHP preferred, but open to Python, Go, Java, etc.)
• Experience with large databases (especially Postgres) and complex SQL
• Solid AWS infrastructure knowledge and application security awareness
• Frontend fundamentals (React/Next.js, TypeScript) and architectural oversight
• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• Previous leadership roles such as Head of Engineering, Startup CTO, or Engineering Manager
