Our client, a national specialty mechanical insulation contractor, is seeking an experienced Area Estimator to join their team remotely in the Western USA region.
In this role, you'll perform material take-offs, prepare estimates and proposals, and support multiple branch offices across the Western region in securing profitable construction projects. You'll work on mechanical insulation for industrial, commercial, and institutional facilities—including hospitals, refineries, data centers, and other complex facilities—covering HVAC, plumbing, piping, ductwork, and specialty equipment for both new and existing construction.
You'll collaborate closely with Branch Managers and Account Managers to develop accurate, competitive bids. In addition to estimating, you'll prepare material requirements, Foreman's Work Orders, and help ensure a smooth hand-off to the construction team.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed material take-offs and prepare full cost estimates using MIKE estimating software
- Review drawings, specifications, and site conditions to ensure clear and accurate bid scopes
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with branch teams through regular communication and responsive support
- Coordinate and prioritize estimating efforts between branches in collaboration with the Area President
- Vendor and subcontractor quotes and incorporate pricing into estimates
- Prepare project proposals, material submittals, and schedules as required
- Attend pre-award and pre-construction meetings to review scope, clarify requirements, and support hand-off to construction
- Maintain accurate customer and bid data in Salesforce
- Track and understand labor productivity, materials, and margin standards to ensure estimate accuracy
- Support the company's Continuous Improvement and Environmental Health & Safety programs
Requirements - 3+ years of mechanical insulation estimating experience
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and flow diagrams
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with MIKE estimating software (or similar)
- Excellent math aptitude, communication, and organizational skills
- Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively under deadlines
Salary: $70,000 - $85,000 + annual performance bonus
Schedule: Monday-Friday
