Our client is a well-established Australian engineering and advanced manufacturing business specialising in high-performance powerplant and mechatronic systems for the aerospace sector.

Job Title: Mechatronics Engineer
Location: Perth, WA
Salary: Commensurate with experience
Work Set-up: Permanent, Full-Time 


About the Role:
This is an end-to-end engineering position within a highly technical manufacturing environment. You will be responsible for designing, developing, testing and optimising mechanical and mechatronic systems, working closely with cross-functional engineering and production teams.

The role provides an opportunity to contribute to innovative aerospace technology while applying your expertise across mechanical design, electronics integration, testing and continuous improvement.
 

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop mechanical and mechatronic systems to meet project requirements.
• Conduct testing, analysis and validation to ensure reliability and performance.
• Integrate mechanical components with electronic systems and assemblies.
• Develop detailed engineering documentation, drawings and technical reports.
• Troubleshoot and optimise mechanical and mechatronic systems.
• Apply GD&T, tolerance analysis and fit assessments throughout the design process.
• Support the development and testing of harnesses, wiring systems and ECUs.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards and safety requirements.
• Manage engineering tasks, project timelines and deliverables.
• Contribute to continuous improvement across engineering, production and quality.

Qualifications:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience with mechanical design software and engineering tools.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities, including experience with 8D or 7-Step methodologies.
• Experience designing, developing and testing mechanical or mechatronic systems.
• Understanding of harnesses, wiring systems and ECUs.
• Strong knowledge of testing, GD&T, tolerance analysis and fit assessments.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Proactive approach to managing priorities, projects and engineering deliverables.
• Experience within a manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, defence environment will be highly regarded.
