Job Title: Mechanical Systems Engineer
Location: Perth, WA

About the Role:
We are seeking a Mechanical Systems Engineer to join the Engineering Team and support the development, production and continuous improvement of advanced aerospace systems, hybrid systems and associated mechanical components.

You will be involved across the product development lifecycle, from requirements definition and mechanical design through to verification, validation, manufacturing and supplier support.

The role will suit an engineer with strong hands-on mechanical design experience who enjoys solving complex technical problems and working across design, manufacturing and engineering teams.


Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and release mechanical components, parts and sub-systems in accordance with product development processes, engineering standards, customer requirements and applicable regulations.
• Apply structured engineering methodologies including design reviews, GD&T, tolerance analysis, DFMA, DFMEA, value engineering and risk management.
• Translate product and system-level requirements into component specifications, design inputs, interfaces, acceptance criteria and technical documentation.
• Produce and review engineering designs, calculations and technical analyses.
• Consider materials, manufacturing processes, tolerances, assembly requirements, serviceability, cost and product lifecycle requirements in design decisions.
• Plan and support analytical and physical design verification and validation activities.
• Define test requirements, review test results, prepare technical reports and resolve design issues.
• Support component procurement through technical documentation, supplier engagement and review of inspection and test data.
• Conduct root-cause analysis, investigate non-conformances and develop corrective actions.
• Work collaboratively with engineering, manufacturing, quality and supply chain stakeholders.
  
  

Qualifications:

• Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• 3+ years' experience across product design, development, component engineering and/or project engineering environments.
• Strong mechanical design and development experience involving components, assemblies and sub-systems.
• Competent in GD&T, tolerance analysis and fit assessment.
• Sound understanding of engineering materials, manufacturing processes, surface treatments and component selection.
• Experience with structured engineering problem-solving methodologies such as 8D or 7-Step Problem Solving.
• Experience in design verification and validation, including test planning, test methods and results analysis.
• Strong root-cause analysis, non-conformance investigation and corrective-action skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capability with the ability to work through complex technical issues in a structured manner.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience within aerospace, defence, automotive, advanced manufacturing or other highly regulated engineering environments will be highly regarded.
