Job Title: First Class Machinist
Location: Adelaide, SA
Salary: $40 to $45 per hour base plus super
Work Set-up: Full-time, permanent | On-site
About the Role:
We are seeking a reliable and motivated First Class Machinist to join a growing manufacturing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified machinist with experience in manual machining who takes pride in producing precision components to exacting standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up and operate manual centre lathes, milling machines, radial drills, drill presses, hones and other machine tools.
Read and interpret detailed engineering drawings, specifications and sample parts.
Machine and fabricate metal components to precise dimensions and tolerances.
Perform internal and external screw cutting and other precision machining operations.
Inspect materials and finished components using verniers, micrometers, dial indicators and other measuring tools.
Monitor machining processes to ensure quality, accuracy and efficiency.
Maintain strict safety standards and provide technical support to apprentices when required.
Collaborate with supervisors and manufacturing personnel to achieve production targets.
Qualifications:
Trade-qualified Machinist (MEM40119 or an Australian Government-approved equivalent qualification).
Experience operating manual centre lathes is highly desirable.
Experience in internal and external screw cutting is advantageous.
Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to work to fine tolerances.
Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
Reliable, self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
A positive, team-oriented attitude with good communication skills.
Current forklift licence is advantageous for material handling.
