Microfluidics Engineer

An ambitious, biotechnology start-up developing next-generation DNA synthesis technology is looking to hire a Microfluidics Engineer.  Combining microfluidics, chemistry, automation and synthetic biology, they're building technology that will transform how DNA is manufactured.

The Microfluidics Engineer will help design and optimise the fluidic systems at the heart of our platform as well as develop, prototype and test innovative microfluidic devices, helping take ideas from concept through to scalable products.

What you'll do

• Design and develop microfluidic devices and fluid handling systems
• Prototype, test and optimise device performance
• Integrate microfluidics with automated laboratory workflows
• Collaborate with molecular biologists, chemists and engineers to improve DNA synthesis performance
• Support the transition from R&D to scalable manufacturing

About you

• MSc or PhD in Microfluidics, Mechanical, Biomedical or Chemical Engineering, Physics or a related discipline
• Experience designing and developing microfluidic systems
• Hands-on experience with device fabrication and experimental testing
• Knowledge of CAD and fluid dynamics
• Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative approach

Desirable experience Experience in DNA synthesis, lab-on-a-chip technologies, molecular biology, automation or life science instrumentation would be advantageous but is not essential.
