The Wilner Group is partnering with a global manufacturing leader seeking an innovative R&D Mechanical Engineer to join its fast-paced Research & Development team.
This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer who thrives in dynamic environments and enjoys taking projects from concept through implementation. You will play a key role in designing mechanical systems, developing advanced manufacturing solutions, and supporting next-generation technologies in high-growth industries including clean energy.
Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test mechanical systems and components to improve performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency
• Engineer and support automated equipment, assembly fixtures, and precision systems
• Manage R&D projects including timelines, budgets, and deliverables
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
• Identify and validate materials and manufacturing processes
• Plan and execute testing, validation, and technical documentation
• Collaborate cross-functionally with production, procurement, quality, and external suppliers
• Support quoting activities by estimating costs, timelines, and resources
• Travel domestically and internationally as needed

Required Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• 3–7 years of mechanical design experience in manufacturing or R&D
• Project management experience (formal or informal)
• Strong SolidWorks modeling and drawing skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering documentation tools
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Experience

• Machining (mill, lathe, CNC) knowledge
• FEA and thermal modeling
• Test fixture design and material testing
• PLCs, servo/stepper motors, and machine controls
• High-temperature and vacuum material applications
• Fiber laser cutting systems (Amada preferred)
• Spanish language proficiency

Schedule: Full-time, on-site in Lincoln, RI
Travel: Occasional domestic and international travel required
