Role Description
This is a true business-partnering Project Accountant role.  You will take ownership of a diverse portfolio of projects across our Southern division, working closely with Project Directors and senior stakeholders to drive financial clarity, accountability and performance.

You won’t just prepare reports, you’ll interpret them, challenge assumptions, identify risks early and help shape better commercial decisions.

Based in our Melbourne office (3 days in office, 2 days WFH), this role offers both autonomy and exposure to senior decision-makers.

Key responsibilities include:

• End-to-end project accounting across active project portfolios
• Budget management, forecasting and WIP oversight
• Revenue recognition and margin analysis
• Commercial insights and performance reporting
• Client invoicing and contract financial administration
• Supporting and driving process improvements
• Strengthening financial controls and enhancing reporting capability
• Proactively identifying risks, opportunities and improvement areas

Candidate Profile
You are commercially curious, solutions-focused and comfortable operating in a dynamic environment.

You don’t wait to be told what to do, you anticipate, take ownership and follow through. You enjoy working with senior stakeholders, asking the right questions and influencing outcomes.

You bring demonstrated experience as a Project Accountant within construction, property, engineering, infrastructure or other project-based professional services environments.

You are confident navigating complexity, managing competing priorities and working with challenging stakeholders while maintaining strong relationships.

You Will Also Need:

• Proven experience in project financial management, including budgeting, forecasting and revenue recognition
• Strong stakeholder management skills and the confidence to challenge constructively
• Change agility — experience supporting process improvement or system enhancements
• Excellent analytical capability and strong commercial acumen
• High attention to detail and strong time management skills
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
• Experience with Power BI, SQL and/or BST (advantageous but not essential)
