You will join a well-respected employment team headed by our partners who are recognised by their peers as leaders in the field. The Melbourne team forms part of our national Workplace Relations & Safety practice with partners across offices in Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and Canberra.
Our Melbourne WRS team undertakes interesting and varied work with international, national and ASX-listed clients across a range of industries including health and aged care, professional services, property and construction, financial services, hospitality, retail, technology and government sectors.
About the role
We are currently seeking an experienced career Legal Assistant to join our Melbourne office on a part-time, 3 day per week, basis.
This is a great opportunity to provide high-level administrative support to a dynamic and collaborative legal team.
In this role, you will support a number of legal professionals, including Partners, Senior Associates, and Lawyers, across a range of matters. You will also work closely with a team of dedicated Legal Assistants, contributing to a supportive and professional workplace culture. Day to day you can expect to:
- Provide comprehensive administrative and secretarial support to legal professionals
- Manage calendars, schedule meetings, and coordinate travel arrangements
- Draft and format correspondence, legal documents, and reports
- Open and close client files, ensuring compliance with internal procedures
- Assist with time entry, billing processes, and document management
- Liaise with clients, internal stakeholders, and external service providers
- Support the broader team and contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of the office
About you We are seeking candidates with previous experience as a Legal Assistant in a law firm environment, preferably from a larger practice. The successful candidate will also have:
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and legal practice management systems (desirable if this includes Work10/iManage)
- Experience managing the billing process in accordance with firm timetable including clients with specific and more complex billing, reporting and administration requirements (desirable if this includes Aderant/Expert)
- Assisting in the preparation of correspondence and complex legal documents, including editing documents using track changes and managing version control
- Experience collating briefs to counsel, affidavits and exhibits (electronically), and digital dictation as required
- Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
