Job Title: Lecturer in Welding
Location: North Yorkshire (commutable to Middlesbrough) — permanent full‑time role
Salary: £29,565–£43,562 per annum
About the Role
We are working with a highly regarded, Ofsted‑rated college in North Yorkshire to recruit a passionate and experienced Welding Lecturer. In this vital role, you will:
- Develop learners’ proficiency in MIG, TIG and arc welding, metal fabrication, blueprint reading, and equipment maintenance
- Deliver both practical hands‑on welding sessions and theory-based lessons, including health & safety, welding principles, and fabrication standards
- Provide clear, realistic workplace‑focused training to prepare students for real-world welding and fabrication environments
- Manage high-quality instruction, assessment, and progress tracking to help learners achieve their qualifications and their professional goals
- Support students’ understanding of safety standards, professional practice, and industry expectations to prepare them for a career in welding and fabrication
What We’re Looking For - A recognised welding qualification, Level 3 welding at minimum
- Teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one
- Practical welding and fabrication experience (MIG, TIG, arc welding, metal fabrication, blueprint reading, maintenance)
- Strong communication and teaching skills — capable of delivering practical sessions and theoretical instruction clearly and safely
- A commitment to fostering a supportive, inclusive learning environment that encourages progression and success
Prior experience in a teaching or training role within further education, apprenticeships or vocational training is highly desirable, but we are open to skilled welders with the right qualifications and passion for teaching.
