The client
Our client is a well-established private hospital providing comprehensive acute care services to the surrounding community. The facility is recognised for its commitment to quality clinical outcomes, patient safety and a supportive multidisciplinary approach to healthcare delivery.
The opportunity
The Unit Manager Theatre will lead and manage a structured theatre unit to ensure safe, high-quality patient care in line with clinical standards. This role requires strong leadership, sound financial management and the ability to optimise human and organisational resources while contributing to a positive patient experience.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure safe patient care in accordance with clinical quality standards, policies and procedures
- Identify, manage and mitigate clinical risks within the unit
- Lead, manage and support theatre staff to ensure optimal performance and productivity
- Manage operational and capital expenditure in line with financial and budgetary guidelines
- Ensure effective utilisation of resources within the unit
- Drive a positive patient experience and manage patient complaints where required
- Support interdepartmental collaboration and outcomes
- Manage key stakeholder relationships within the hospital environment
- Participate in auditing and accreditation processes
- Implement continuous improvement and quality assurance methodologies
- Ensure effective infection prevention and control practices
- Oversee human resource processes, including employee relations and performance management
- Ensure compliance with relevant nursing legislation and professional standards
Requirements - Registered Nurse with valid SANC registration
- Post basic qualification in Operating Theatre Nursing is essential
- Nursing education qualification
- Nursing management qualification is essential
- Minimum of 5 years professional nursing experience in a hospital setting
- 2 to 3 years leadership or management experience within a hospital environment
- Infection Prevention and Control and Clinical Facilitation experience is advantageous
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office
