We are seeking a passionate and motivated senior nurse to join our team in Natimuk in a full time (80 hours/fortnight) as the Director of Nursing!
RENUMERATION:
Award: Nurses and Midwives (Victorian Public Health Sector) Single Interest Employer Enterprise Agreement 2024-28.
Classification: RN65 - DON of Group 8D campus (salary range - $147,310 plus superannuation).
ABOUT US:
West Wimmera Health Service provides high-quality community outpatient services, disability and residential aged care and hospital care to more than 22,000 people in the West Wimmera region.
In Natimuk, we provide three different types of residential aged care all under one roof:-
Natimuk Nursing Home is a modern facility offering beds for up to 20 residents with high care needs, with a functional and accessible enclosed garden.
Alan W Lockwood Special Care Hostel is an 11-bed facility providing safe and secure accommodation for residents with dementia but lower physical care needs.
Trescowthick Hostelis a 10-bed ground level facility with easy access to an enclosed garden for residents with lower care needs. All rooms are single with shared ensuite bathrooms.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Director of Nursing (DON) provides strategic and operational nursing leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe, and effective care.
The role is responsible for clinical governance, workforce leadership, accreditation readiness, and continuous quality improvement, while fostering a positive culture aligned with WWHS values.
The DON works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure services are responsive, compliant and sustainable meeting all regulatory requirements.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential:
Current or eligible for registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
At least 5 years clinical nursing experience, including leadership at a senior level.
Demonstrated knowledge of clinical governance, accreditation standards, and quality systems.
Proven ability to lead, mentor, and mage multidisciplinary teams.
Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of current aged care funding requirements.
Desirable:
Postgraduate qualifications in nursing management, leadership, or a related field.
Experience working in rural health and/or residential aged care setting.
PRE-REQUISITES:
NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.
Working with Children Check.
Fully vaccinated as per current Department of Health Directives.
Australian Driver’s License.
KEY RESPONSBILITIES:
Provide professional nursing leadership and accountability for clinical standards, resident safety and quality of care.
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, professional standards and accreditation requirements (Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards).
Promote evidence-based practice and continuous improvement in clinical outcomes.
Lead and manage nursing and care teams, including Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses and Health Care Workers.
Ensure effective workforce planning, rostering, performance development and staff wellbeing.
Contribute to budget management and efficient use of resources at the Natimuk campus.
Any other associated duties as delegated by the Executive Director Clinical Services at any time.
