We are seeking a proactive Project Safety Manager to spearhead safety excellence on our heavy civil construction sites. How You’ll Make an Impact

• Strategic Oversight: Develop and execute project-specific safety plans tailored to heavy civil environments, ensuring 100% alignment with DOT standards and federal/state mandates.
• Field Leadership: Conduct rigorous site audits and inspections, specifically focusing on high-hazard DOT operations like traffic control, bridge work, and heavy equipment movement.
• Mentorship & Training: Lead engaging toolbox talks and safety training that empower our crews to recognize and mitigate risks in real-time.
• Incident Management: Champion the investigation process for near-misses or incidents, utilizing root-cause analysis to build better, safer workflows.
• Collaborative Safety: Partner closely with Superintendents and Project Managers to ensure safety is never an afterthought, but a core component of our production schedule.

What You Bring to the Team

• Heavy Civil Expertise: At least 5 years of dedicated safety experience in the heavy civil sector.
• DOT Proficiency: A proven track record of managing safety on DOT-regulated projects, including a firm grasp of MUTCD (Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices) and state-specific transportation safety requirements.
• Regulatory Mastery: Expert knowledge of OSHA 1926 standards and a keen eye for compliance.
• Credentials: An OSHA 30-hour construction card is required. Professional certifications such as CHST, CSP, or specialized DOT safety certifications are highly preferred.
• Communication: The ability to command a room (or a job site) with clear, persuasive communication that builds trust with field crews and stakeholders alike.
• Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Occupational Health, or Construction Management is preferred, though equivalent field experience is highly valued.
