Platform Manager – Data & AI | Melbourne, VIC | Hybrid (3 days onsite)

A major Australian organisation undergoing significant digital and data transformation is looking for an experienced Platform Manager – Data & AI to help modernise its enterprise technology landscape. With a national presence, a large workforce, and a commitment to becoming an AI-enabled business, the organisation is investing heavily in scalable platforms, modern engineering practices, and cloud-native capability.

About the Team
This role sits within a central Data, AI, and Platform Enablement function responsible for building the technology foundations that support a wide range of business units across the organisation.

The team brings together product, engineering, and data specialists to deliver the core intelligence, automation, and analytics capabilities that power strategic decision-making and day-to-day operations. They focus on creating secure, scalable, cloud-first platforms that underpin digital experiences, operational efficiency, and enterprise performance.

About the Role
You’ll lead end-to-end planning, execution, and delivery of large-scale platform transformation initiatives, working closely with senior technology and business leaders to uplift cloud, data, and AI capabilities across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the adoption of cloud-native engineering, containerisation, microservices, IaC and automation.
• Collaborate with security, architecture, governance, and compliance teams to ensure the platform meets enterprise standards.
• Manage risks, dependencies, resource plans, and delivery roadmaps for complex transformation programs.
• Drive cross-team collaboration and knowledge sharing to accelerate modern engineering practices.
• Identify opportunities to optimise cost, improve reliability, and enhance scalability.
• Foster a culture of innovation, experimentation, and continuous improvement.
• Mentor and lead a team of platform engineers and transformation specialists.

About You
You’re an experienced transformation leader with a strong technical background and a proven track record delivering large-scale platform or cloud modernisation programs.

We’re Looking For

• Extensive experience in platform management, cloud transformation, or technical program leadership.
• Proven ability to deliver enterprise-scale cloud or data platform uplift.
• Strong capability with cloud platforms (Azure, Snowflake, Databricks), containers (Docker, Kubernetes), and automation (Terraform, Ansible).
• Understanding of modern data platforms, AI/ML architectures, and large-scale engineering patterns.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams in Agile delivery environments.
• Knowledge of enterprise security, data governance, and compliance frameworks.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

This position requires candidates to hold Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency. Candidates must also be based in or willing to relocate to Melbourne for the role.
