The New Zealand Avocado Growers Association (NZAGA) is seeking an experienced Independent Director with strong governance credentials to join its Executive Committee, with the potential to transition into the role of Independent Chair as part of the Board’s planned leadership succession.
First and foremost, we are looking for a highly capable governance professional. You will bring substantial experience at board level, sound judgement, independence of thought and a strong understanding of contemporary governance practice.
NZAGA represents approximately 1,500 avocado growers across New Zealand and plays a central role in supporting the sustainable growth, productivity and profitability of the sector. Working across growers, exporters, post-harvest operators, government, researchers and other industry partners, NZAGA operates in a complex and evolving environment where strong governance, strategic clarity and effective stakeholder engagement are critical.
The opportunity
The successful candidate will initially join the Executive Committee as an Independent Director, allowing time to build a strong understanding of the industry, its stakeholders and governance environment. It is intended that the appointee would subsequently transition into the role of Independent Chair.
