The Institute of Directors (IoD) is seeking an experienced governance professional to facilitate our Advanced Health and Safety course. 

This is an opportunity to contribute to the development of New Zealand directors and senior leaders by facilitating an advanced, governance-focused programme that explores the complexities of health and safety oversight at board level. 

About the role 
We are looking for an engaging and credible facilitator who combines deep technical expertise in health and safety with strong governance knowledge and experience. 

You will bring a broad perspective to the programme, ideally developed through experience working across a range of sectors and organisations, potentially through consulting, advisory or governance roles. 

You will also be an expert facilitator, confident working with experienced directors and senior leaders and able to bring complex topics to life through discussion, practical examples and thoughtful challenge. 

Importantly, you will be current with New Zealand's evolving health and safety legislative and regulatory environment, including the implications of upcoming legislative changes for boards and directors. 

The successful candidate will ideally bring: 

• Significant governance experience and a strong understanding of directors' health and safety responsibilities 
• Deep technical expertise in health and safety 
• Broad experience across multiple sectors or organisational environments 
• Exceptional facilitation and communication skills 
• The ability to engage and challenge experienced directors and senior leaders
• A practical, contemporary understanding of health and safety governance 
• Up-to-date knowledge of current and emerging health and safety legislation and regulatory expectations in New Zealand 

Commitment 
The commitment is approximately five days per annum, spread across the year. Courses are delivered as full-day events, with some additional preparation required ahead of each course. 

As part of the onboarding process, the successful candidate will be required to observe our next Advanced Health and Safety course on 10 November 2026.
