Warehouse/Logistics Supervisor in Detroit
SNELLING STAFFING HAS AN IMMEDIATE OPENING FOR A 3RD SHIFT SUPERVISOR AT OUR THIRD PARTY LOGISTICS CLIENT LOCATED IN DETROIT, $26/HOUR, TEMP TO HIRE
The Warehouse Supervisor is primarily responsible for overseeing employees that are operating a forklift to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise. The Supervisor is also accountable for laborers and to make sure everyone is working productively. The position is accountable for the safety, customer relations, proper
equipment use.
Warehouse Supervisor Responsibilities:
- Interact directly with customers
- Train Warehousepersons and laborers
- Oversee unloading materials and merchandise from incoming vehicles and stack them to assigned
places or directly to rack storage
- Sign incoming Bill of Lading's (BOL's)
- Locate and move stock of products to pallets or crates for storage or shipment
- Identify damages and report shortages or quality deficiencies
- Transport materials to production areas for Warehouse Laborers
- Inspect machinery to determine the need for repairs and guarantee safety by performing regular
maintenance, including daily forklift check sheets
- Keep updated records of inventory and activity logs
- Operate inventory control equipment, i.e., bar-coding equipment, handheld devices
- Complete any other tasks and duties needed by Management
- Comply with company policies and legal guidelines
- Help maintain a safe and orderly environment of the facilities
- Follow quality service standards and comply with procedures, rules and regulations
- Adhere to all safety rules and guidelines
Competencies
- Be able to identify product by size, type, style, color, or product code
- Solid reading skills - must be able to read orders/match orders on shipping tickets to items picked
- Basic math skills and reasoning skills
- Ability to understand and execute instructions
- General understanding of the warehouse and footprint
Warehouse Supervisor Requirements:
- Proven experience as forklift operator for at least 1 year
- 2+ years in a supervisory/management role that included training new employees
- Able to withstand temperatures in a typical warehouse environment
- On an average day, the Warehouseperson spends a majority of their time on the forklift, although some
days and job duties will require up to 100% amount of time standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs), pulling and
pushing
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth
perception and ability to adjust focus
- Able to pass a vision test a drug test to comply with the Company's Drug Test Policy
- High school diploma or GED required
