Construction and Technical Recruitment (CTR) is working with a well-established and growing main contractor. They are looking to appoint an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to support a strong and expanding pipeline of work across the Waikato region.
 
The business is experiencing a notable uplift in workload and is continuing to secure new projects, including an increasing number of Design & Build (D&B) opportunities. This growth has created the need for an additional QS who can step in and contribute from the outset.

The Opportunity
 
You will be joining a commercially focused team within a contractor that is gaining momentum in the market and building a solid forward workload.
 
This role offers the chance to:

• Take ownership of key commercial functions on projects
• Be involved in Design & Build projects, working closely with design teams and project managers from an early stage

You'll be expected to hit the ground running and contribute to project delivery, while still having the support of an experienced team around you.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the full commercial management of projects from tender through to final account
• Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and financial forecasts
• Support and contribute to Design & Build procurement and cost planning processes
• Manage subcontractor procurement, negotiations, and contract administration
• Assess and process variations, progress claims, and payments
• Monitor project costs, margins, and financial performance
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities and provide practical solutions
• Work closely with site teams, project managers, and consultants
• Maintain accurate reporting and financial documentation

What We're Looking For

• 4-7 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry
• Proven New Zealand experience with a main contractor is essential
• Strong understanding of NZ construction contracts and commercial practices
• Exposure to, or interest in, Design & Build project delivery
• Confident communication skills — able to deal effectively with clients, consultants, and subcontractors
• Strong commercial acumen and attention to detail
• Ability to work autonomously while contributing to a team environment
• A practical, solutions-focused mindset
