Job Description:
Seeking a Sr. Computer Network Systems Engineer/SME (subject matter expert) to provide advisory & assistance services (A&AS) to support a major defense program, focusing on Department of Defense (DoD) acquisition life cycle planning and Space Force systems.
The ideal Sr Computer Network Systems Engineer SME for Golden Dome would possess extensive experience designing, securing, and managing complex, mission-critical networks supporting space and defense systems, with deep knowledge of network protocols, cybersecurity, and cross-domain solutions. They should be skilled in DoD Information Network (DoDIN) operations, zero trust architectures, and SATCOM/GIG integration, with a demonstrated ability to architect resilient, secure, and scalable network infrastructures.
The Space Systems Command (SSC) Space Domain Awareness and Combat Power (SDACP) (SSC/SZ), Battle Management, Command, Control, and Communications (BMC3) (SSC/BC) provides highly classified Space Domain Awareness (SDA) systems, Defensive and Offensive Space Control (DSC/OSC) capabilities, and space test range assets to meet current and projected DoD operational requirements. SSC/SZ-BC develops, integrates, tests, deploys, sustains, and supports operations for systems that meet strategic and tactical operational needs.
This mission area requires personnel with experience and an in-depth understanding of the environments that include ground, near-space, space, and any system that operates in those environments.
Key responsibilities include:
- Network Architecture Design: Develop and implement secure, resilient, and scalable network architectures to support space-ground communications and mission data flows across multiple security domains.
- Cybersecurity Integration: Ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements, including RMF, zero trust principles, and integration of cross-domain solutions (CDS) to protect mission-critical networks.
- Mission Communications Support: Engineer and optimize end-to-end communications systems, including SATCOM, terrestrial links, and GIG interfaces, to ensure reliable data transmission for operations and control.
- Network Operations & Monitoring: Define and support network performance monitoring, fault isolation, and operational troubleshooting procedures for mission assurance and rapid fault resolution.
- Collaboration & Technical Leadership: Serve as a liaison between engineering teams, cybersecurity leads, and operational stakeholders to align network capabilities with evolving Golden Dome mission needs.
Qualifications Educational Requirements: REQUIRED Experience Requirements: - Subject Matter Expertise in computer networks, network protocols, and network architecture.
- Expert in integrating and engineering cybersecurity into mission systems.
- Expert in developing cyber tools for use by cyber operators.
- Experience rapidly maturing and applying technology in operationally relevant environments.
- Experience working with mission partners (specifics at higher classification) to develop solutions.
- Experience working in intelligence and with its community (specifics at higher classification.
- Experience working with intelligence mission systems.
- Experience with modern C5ISRT systems in the DoD.
- Experience with DoD and US military policies (specifics at higher classification.
- Experience working within a classified environment to meet warfighter needs.
- Note: Specific certifications can be made available at a higher classification level.
