Role: RFID SME III – Tester.
Location: HYBRID / Hawaii, HI (or) Washington, WA.
This position requires travel to a Navy base nationally (either, Hawaii or Washington) for up to (2) weeks in person per site and (6) weeks remote.
Job Description:
We seek a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) SME III to join our team of professionals supporting the DoD. The projected start date is February 2025.
The RFID SME III position provides the personnel necessary to ensure the program has the proper technical experience to deliver results to the government client effectively.
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
• Serve as a technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Automatic Identification Technology (AIT), primarily RFID, including Bluetooth, mesh, etc.
• Support site surveys, including spectrum analysis, requirements gathering, system design, tag selection/placement, business processes, etc.
• Conduct Radio Frequency (RF) and cellular strength testing to identify problem areas.
• Conduct RFID identification and specification(s) development to meet and exceed performance and quality in multiple use cases/environments.
• Possess first-hand knowledge and experience of RFID hardware installations
• Perform AIT and RFID installations.
• Create a support documentation package for each proposed site, including as-builts, diagrams, CAD drawings, installation instructions, spectrum analysis reports, etc.
• Perform market research for RFID/AIT products and provide implementation recommendations.
• Develop, Assist in the development, and provide site-specific training for users, managers, etc.
• Review and support the development of DoD policy using approved formatting guidelines.
• Conduct assessments and detailed reports on AIT hardware and software.
• Develop detailed design drawings that depict the evaluation of wireless communication and sensing systems.
• Perform demonstrations of adopted or trial technologies.
• Carry out implementation plans for adopted AIT.
• Performs related work as assigned.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a mix of teleworking, professional office environments, warehouses, Naval bases/shipyards, outdoors, etc.
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Must be able to lift 50lb, climb ladders, crouch, kneel, and work with tools and machinery. Must be able to wear appropriate safety equipment (e.g., a hard hat, safety glasses, ear plugs, steel-toe shoes, etc.)
Position type and expected hours of work:
This is a full-time position. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
During travel weeks, additional hours of work may be required. (2) separate locations, each consisting of (2) weeks of travel on-site, followed by (6) weeks of remote teleworking.
Travel:
This position requires 100% travel during each of the (2) week site surveys per location, then the position will transition to remote for the following (6) weeks to create documentation.
Travel locations include (2) different sites (HI and WA).
Before the initial site survey, the Teams will be brought on (1) week in advance to ensure everything needed is created/covered with the new team members. Team members will receive notification of travel (3) weeks before the travel date.
Job Requirements (Education, Experience, Professional Associations).
Required:
Education:
▪ Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, or related field.
Experience:
▪ Five years of experience with active and passive RFID and frequencies in the commercial or DoD industry.
▪ Must be familiar with spectrum analysis and material composition for mounting hardware.
▪ Must understand power requirements for installation of wireless systems.
Clearance:
▪ US Citizenship.
▪ Must be able to pass a background investigation per local law and regulations.
Preferred:
Education:
▪ Master's Degree in Business, Engineering, or related field.
Professional Industry Certification in RFID:
▪ CompTIA RFID+, RFID SCM, etc.
Experience:
▪ Two years of functional and enterprise-wide understanding of Navy and/or Marine Corps policy information technology and supply.
