The SEC’s Consumer Energy Solutions (CES) division is supporting Victorians with simple, effective, innovative solutions with that help them to reduce their energy costs and emissions, starting with the electrification of their homes.

Your role As
Commercial Partnerships Manager, you will be responsible for developing and leading the implementation of the commercial partnerships strategy to help achieve SEC’s goals and deliver positive outcomes for Victorian households and SEC partners. You’ll bring outstanding commercial acumen, strong contract experience (drafting, negotiation, management) and exceptional business development skills to establish long term and high value relationships with partners, negotiate with senior stakeholders to secure impactful business opportunities and help achieve SEC’s targets for Victorian consumers, starting with electrifying their homes.
The focus of this role will be on developing the commercial partnerships strategy. and establishing commercial and corporate partnerships that are best aligned with SEC’s consumer energy objectives and targets..
This role can be based in Melbourne or Morwell. What you will do: Core accountabilities include:
- Developing the commercial partnerships strategy in line with the SEC’s Consumer Energy Solutions’ objectives, purpose and product roadmap.
- Identifying, securing and amplifying partnerships that help accelerate home electrification across Victoria and deliver value for Victorian households.
- Leading the end-to-end business development process, from commercial negotiations and contract matters (including drafting, negotiation, management), to onboarding and evaluation.
- Developing and maintaining senior-level relationships with new and existing partners. Conducting workshops, reviews, and presentations with partners and senior stakeholders to align goals and amplify growth opportunities.
- Using market insights and competitor knowledge to contribute to overall partnerships strategy and strengthen go-to-market plans.
- Working collaboratively across teams including with Commercial, Product, Delivery, Legal, Procurement and Go-to-Market teams to ensure smooth partnership integration and to maximise success.
- Leveraging your existing networks and representing SEC’s Consumer Energy Solutions team at networking events and conferences.
Who you are: Must Have: Your capabilities and areas of expertise that matter most for this role are:
- Min 5-7 years of experience in business development or commercial partnerships.
- Degree qualification in relevant discipline (eg. Business, Finance, Law, Marketing) or substantial experience in similar roles.
- Demonstrated ability to developing partnership strategies that align with organisational mission and purpose.
- Experience in the energy sector.
- Excellent relationship building and negotiating skills, including with senior stakeholders.
- Strong commercial and business acumen.
- Track record of driving revenue and growth through partnerships.
- Ability to stay focused and driven in a fast-paced, scale-up environment.
- Self-starter with a growth mindset, nimble at overcoming challenges and finding innovative solutions.
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
Highly Desirable - Experience working in both start-up/scaleup and large corporate environments.
- Experience in consumer energy / understanding of the energy market as it relates to consumer energy resources.
- Leadership experience of high-performance teams.
