The SEC’s Consumer Energy Solutions (CES) division is supporting Victorians with simple, effective, innovative solutionsthat help them to reduce their energy costs and emissions, starting with the electrification of their homes.

Your role The
Industry Manager is an important strategic position responsible for building and managing excellent relationships with industry stakeholders, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and a state-wide network of trusted installation and trades businesses, as well as establishing systems and processes to ensure the best quality outcomes for Victorian households.
This is an exciting opportunity that is responsible for building, developing and leading a team of industry professionals, bringing a deep understanding of the consumer energy landscape (technical, product, regulatory, sales and installation) and fostering a culture that’s passionate about delivering great outcomes for both Victorian households and industry. It will lead the establishment of a network of SEC endorsed installation/trades businesses to deliver home electrification upgrades for Victorian households and facilitate the roll out of SEC’s one stop shop for home electrification ensuring installations and upgrades meet industry best practice and quality assurance to customers.
This role can be based in Melbourne or Morwell. What you will do: Core accountabilities include:
- Leadership: Build and lead a team responsible for industry relationships, focusing on installation and trades businesses, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), relevant industry/government bodies and regulators.
- Installers and trades: Build, vet, and manage a comprehensive state-wide network of installers and trades, ensuring strong and reliable partnerships to deliver quality home energy and electrification services to Victorian households.
- Technical product expertise: Conduct technical product reviews, market scans, provide endorsements and advice for CES teams and partners. Inform SEC’s one-stop-shop product/appliance marketplace and act as the
- Compliance and quality oversight: Develop and manage the process for auditing, compliance, and quality assurance for customer installations, working with the Operations team for successful implementation.
- Capacity building: Enhance the operations team's capacity to deliver technical and sales support to installation partners and customers.
- Industry engagement: Maintain active involvement with industry bodies, stay informed on industry standards, regulation and trends, and ensure alignment with the latest developments.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Work collaboratively across teams to share insights, risks, opportunities and feedback with Product, Commercial and Operations teams to improve consumer, installer and business outcomes.
- Commercial: Contribute to business planning, pricing strategies, annual targets, budgeting and reporting.
Who you are: Must Have: Your capabilities and areas of expertise that matter most for this role are:
- Experience in the energy sector and working with consumer-facing trades businesses.
- Track record in building and leading teams.
- In-depth knowledge of industry standards, products trends, and compliance requirements related to home electrification/solar products and installations.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to collaborate cross-functionally to maximise outcomes.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to prioritise and remain focused in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in establishing and managing service level agreements with external suppliers/partners.
- Strong commercial acumen to achieve business outcomes.
- Tertiary or Trade qualifications in a relevant discipline (e.g. Engineering, Electrical, Finance, Business, or Project Management) or substantial industry experience in a similar role.
- Commercial negotiation and contract management.
Highly Desirable - Knowledge of the end-to-end customer and trades journeys for home electrification.
- Experience collaborating with complex internal and external stakeholders.
