The Accounts team plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth financial operations of the Australia Zoo Group. This tight-knit team works collaboratively to meet operational KPIs while maintaining the highest professional standards.
About the Position Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Financial Accountant will oversee and facilitate the preparation of financial statements across the Group. This role also involves coordinating the Accounts Department and supervising team members to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
Key responsibilities include:
Preparation of daily cashflow reports for the Financial Controller
Review of weekly payroll packs and processing payments as directed
Review and processing of weekly accounts payable batch payments
Preparation of weekly wages-to-sales reports across multiple business units
Preparation of end-of-month journals, including depreciation and adjustments
Preparation and review of balance sheet reconciliations, including investigation and resolution of discrepancies
Monthly revenue reconciliations against Point of Sale systems
Undertaking and supervising group consolidations
Preparation and lodgement of BAS, IAS, and FBT returns
Preparation of monthly KPI and management reports
Ongoing review and improvement of financial systems, reporting formats, and internal controls
Supervision and support of Accounts team members
Liaison with external accountants on year-end financial statements and consolidations
Assisting the Financial Controller with financial institution reporting requirements
The Ideal Candidate:
CPA or CA qualified
Minimum 2 years' experience in a Financial Accountant or Management Accountant role
Advanced Excel capability
Demonstrated leadership, team supervision, and strong interpersonal skills
Professional, collaborative, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
Willingness to support team members and contribute beyond core responsibilities
Full availability, including weekends, public holidays, and school holiday periods
Satisfactory Australian Federal Police Criminal Record Check (mandatory)
