Breight Group is seeking an experienced Project Planner with strong Primavera P6 capability to join our growing Projects team.
Supporting the delivery of mining and resources projects, you’ll work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Superintendents and site teams to develop, maintain and report against detailed project schedules.
This is a hands-on planning role where you’ll turn project scope into practical, achievable schedules, monitor progress and provide the visibility our project teams need to make informed decisions and keep delivery on track.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and update detailed project schedules using Primavera P6.
- Establish project baselines, work breakdown structures, activities, logic, milestones and critical paths.
- Translate project scope, work packs and execution methodologies into achievable project schedules.
- Work closely with project and site teams to validate durations, sequencing, resource requirements and construction priorities.
- Monitor actual progress against baseline and forecast schedules.
- Identify critical and near-critical activities, schedule risks, constraints and emerging delays.
- Undertake critical path and schedule variance analysis.
- Prepare look-ahead schedules and support short-term planning activities.
- Develop recovery and mitigation schedules where required.
- Provide accurate schedule updates, progress reporting and forecasting to project leadership.
- Support resource planning and identify potential labour, equipment or sequencing constraints.
- Assist with assessment of variations, scope changes and their impact on project schedules.
- Maintain accurate planning records and ensure schedule changes are appropriately documented.
- Provide planning input into project meetings, client reporting and project controls.
- Support continuous improvement of Breight Group's planning and project controls processes.
About You You’ll be a practical planner who understands that a good schedule needs to reflect what is actually happening in the field.
Ideally, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience as a Project Planner, Scheduler or Project Controls Planner.
- Strong working knowledge and demonstrated experience using Primavera P6 – essential.
- Experience within mining, resources, construction, SMP, mechanical or sustaining capital projects.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, critical path methodology and schedule logic.
- Experience developing and maintaining baseline and forecast schedules.
- Ability to analyse progress, identify schedule impacts and clearly communicate risks.
- Strong Excel and reporting capability.
- High attention to detail and confidence working with complex project information.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with both site and project teams.
- A proactive approach to identifying issues and working with the team to develop practical solutions.
