Breight Group is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Contracts Administrator (QS/CA) to join our growing Projects team.
Working across our portfolio of sustaining capital and construction projects, you’ll play a key role in the commercial management of projects from award through to completion.
This is a hands-on role working closely with Project Managers, Engineers, site teams, clients and subcontractors to ensure contracts are administered effectively, commercial risks are identified early and project performance is accurately tracked.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide commercial and contract administration support across multiple projects.
- Review and administer head contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders and commercial agreements.
- Prepare, assess and manage progress claims, variations and extensions of time.
- Identify contractual and commercial risks and support appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Maintain variation, claims, correspondence and contractual registers.
- Monitor project costs, commitments, forecasts and commercial performance.
- Assist with project budgeting, cost reporting and cost-to-complete forecasting.
- Prepare subcontractor scopes, tender packages and commercial evaluations.
- Assess subcontractor claims and manage payment processes.
- Support procurement and subcontractor engagement activities.
- Ensure contractual notices and correspondence are issued within required timeframes.
- Work closely with Project Managers to identify scope changes and maximise appropriate commercial recovery.
- Assist with project close-out, final accounts and commercial reconciliation.
- Maintain accurate commercial documentation and records throughout the project lifecycle.
About You You’ll be commercially astute, organised and comfortable working in a fast-paced project environment where priorities can change quickly. Ideally, you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, Commerce or a related discipline.
- Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Contracts Administrator or similar commercial role.
- Experience within mining, resources, construction, SMP, mechanical or industrial projects will be highly regarded.
- Strong understanding of contract administration, variations, progress claims and subcontract management.
- Sound commercial and financial acumen.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
- Confidence working with operational and project teams as well as clients and subcontractors.
- Ability to interpret contracts and identify commercial obligations, risks and opportunities.
- Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
