Breight Group is seeking an experienced SMP Estimator to join our growing Pre-Contracts team. Working closely with the Pre-Contracts Manager, you will play a key role in the preparation, presentation, and follow-up of tenders across infrastructure projects.

About the Role
As an SMP Estimator, you will be responsible for developing accurate and competitive estimates from first principles, supporting the full tender lifecycle from early planning through to handover to delivery teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and develop accurate SMP cost estimates, including escalation analysis
- Compile detailed material take-offs and bills of quantities
- Develop estimates from first principles using site productivity rates
- Support the development of construction methodologies, programs, and tender submissions
- Review designs and engineering specifications to ensure cost effectiveness
- Identify scope gaps and issue RFIs to clarify tender documentation
- Review and validate subcontractor pricing across SMP disciplines
- Deliver detailed, traceable tender documentation
- Coordinate estimating activities and participate in tender review meetings
- Liaise with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders to maintain strong relationships
About You To succeed in this role, you will be adaptable, proactive, and detail-focused, with strong commercial awareness. You will bring:
- Experience in engineering, construction, or resource industries
- Strong first-principles estimating experience within SMP (structural, mechanical, piping)
- Exposure to infrastructure, water/wastewater, or process facilities (desirable but not essential)
- Financial and commercial acumen
- Ability to identify information gaps and raise clarifications
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Tertiary qualifications in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related discipline
